Regions benefiting from the flow of foreign investment are achieving the fastest manufacturing growth, according a survey published today by Business Strategies, the economic consultancy. Scotland, Wales and the East Midlands, as well as Northern Ireland are outstripping other regions. The East Midlands, for example, is expected to show a 4% improvement this year compared with a forecast rise of just 0.5% in manufacturing output, because of the contribution from the Toyota car assembly plant in Derbyshire.
