Former AMEC director joins Amerdale

Mark Hancock’s Amerdale has hired former AMEC project director Michael Broadhead to spearhead a shift into large-scale development.

The Yorkshire-based company, which was set up by former Teesland director Hancock in 2003, wants to move into urban brownfield regeneration across the North.

Amerdale has previously focused on investment and small-scale developments through jvs and has an £85m investment portfolio.

Hancock said: “We were keen to build up a track record and balance sheet of investment property. We are aiming for a sidestep into development, which will open a new chapter for the company.”

Broadhead, an ex-colleague of Hancock at Teesland, will be responsible for future Amerdale development projects and will create a strategy for the division.

Amerdale’s current development projects include a 220,000 sq ft extension to its Moorgate Point scheme in Knowlsey, Merseyside, and an office and industrial development on 185 acres at Lindholme Prison, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

Broadhead leaves AMEC as the group begins the sale of its built environment businesses. Its 25m sq ft development subsidiary is valued at around £350m.

NM Rothschild and UBS are advising.
