Former government chief planner joins Town Legal

The government’s former chief planner Steve Quartermain is set to join boutique planning law firm Town Legal, as a consultant.

Quartermain will take up his new role on 1 June. He will work at the firm part-time on various thought leadership initiatives.

He gave notice of his intention to retire from his job as chief planner at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government in January this year.

Quartermain’s other roles include a year as interim chief executive of the planning inspectorate, until 2016.

Before he became chief planner in 2008, Quartermain was director of planning and environmental services at Hambleton District Council.
