Former Grainger boss Dickinson dies

Rupert Dickinson, former chief executive at Grainger, has died after battling illness for a number of years.

Dickinson left the UK’s largest listed residential landlord in late 2009 and had been a key figure in the restructuring of the business in 2008. He revealed to the property community in 2010 that he was suffering from a rare auto-immune disease, renal limited vasculitis or ANCA glomerulonephritis.

The disease causes problems with the vascular system and organs, causing the sufferer to have limited functionality as well as weakness and fatigue.

Andrew Cunningham, Grainger’s current chief executive, said: “It is with great sadness that we have learnt that Rupert Dickinson passed away this morning after a prolonged illness. Rupert joined Grainger in 1992 and made a significant contribution to the growth of the business over a period of 17 years.

“Throughout his career, Rupert was a highly influential figure in the evolution of the residential property sector in the UK.

“The thoughts of all Rupert’s former colleagues here at Grainger are with his family and many friends at this sad time.”
