A trio of former executives from M&G Investments’ real estate finance arm have reconnected for the launch of their own firm.
John Barakat, head of real estate finance at M&G Investments, announced his departure late last year, having led the team since 2008 when he joined from Goldman Sachs.
He is now preparing to open the doors at Girona Partners, his own firm.
Joining him in the new venture, according to company registration documents, are Peter Foldvari and Jamil Farooqi, who were co-heads of investments in M&G’s real estate finance team until last summer.
Foldvari joined M&G in 2009, also from Goldman Sachs, where he had been an associate in the commercial real estate finance team. Farooqi joined a year later after almost a decade in the real estate structured finance team at JP Morgan.
Barakat had not responded to a request for comment about the launch by the time of publication.
