Accounting and payroll firm Sage has put its former headquarters in Newcastle up for sale, in a move which could lead to a redevelopment of the 29-acre site.
Cushman & Wakefield has been brought in to sell the 212,800 sq ft office building on either a leasehold or a freehold basis, and it has been earmarked for a number of purposes “beyond its current office use”.
The building, which was purpose-built for Sage in 2004, sits within North Park, a major plot of land six miles from the city centre, and includes several car parks and vacant land to the north of the company’s offices.
Cushman & Wakefield partner Greg Davison said: “The Sage building occupies a significant site on the outskirts of Newcastle and offers an unrivalled opportunity within the region, with a wide range of possible uses beyond its existing office use, including residential, assisted living and mixed-use development, subject to planning.”
Sage, a London-listed accounting technology provider, will move to Cobalt Business Park, also in Newcastle. It announced that it would leave its current base in 2019.
