French luxury fashion retail group SMCP has appointed Christophe Cuvillier, formerly chief executive of Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, as an independent director.
Cuvillier will become a board member at the group, which is behind fashion brands Sandro, Maje, Claudie Pierlot and De Fursac.
He will hold the role for a four-year term, ending at the group’s general meeting in December 2024.
The group operates 1,677 stores and concessions globally.
The move marks a return to retail for Cuvillier, whose roles before URW included 14 years in the L’Oréal Group’s luxury products division.
Cuvillier left URW at the end of last year after a shareholder revolt against proposals for a €3.5bn (£3.1bn) equity issue.
