Forshaw’s Manchester Waters resi scheme gets thumbs-up

Forshaw Land & Property Group’s plans for a residential-led scheme on a vacant brownfield site at Cornbrook in Manchester have been given the go-ahead.

The Bolton-based developer will build a 24-storey tower with 224 one-, two- and three-bedroom homes including five, two- three- and four-bedroom penthouses with private terraces. It will have a games room, co-working spaces, a private dining room, yoga studio and residents’ gym.

The ground floor will have retail and amenity space, plus an independent coffee bar.

The proposals, designed by Leach Rhodes Walker, include an aparthotel, which will become the first to be operated under Forshaw’s new Vivere brand.

The scheme, which has a gross development value of £75m, forms part of the wider Manchester Waters masterplan, designed by Peel Waters, to regenerate the brownfield site and bring homes and amenities to the area.

Lyndon Forshaw, chief executive at Forshaw Group, said: “Our approved scheme sits on a gateway site and we are looking forward to continuing working closely with Peel Waters to create a development that delivers on the ambitions of the Cornbrook regeneration framework.

James Whittaker, managing director at Peel Waters, added: “Our long-term vision for the wider Manchester Waters neighbourhood is to create a vibrant and sustainable waterside community.

“Forshaw Group’s approved plans will further enhance our vision and we now look forward to seeing the delivery of this development.”
