The owner of out-of-town shopping complex Fosse Park, near Leicester, has been given the first option to buy Everards Brewery’s 13 acres (5.2ha) at Castle Acres.
Everards’ site adjoins the shopping centre, which is owned by Hercules Park Unit Trust. The agreement is unlikely to reach fruition for a number of years.
Several retailers are waiting to move into Fosse Park. Leicester city centre dropped from 10th to 16th place in Experian’s most recent survey of UK shopping venues.
Everards’ property director, Richard Kenyon, said: “We would want to stay in the area and it would take us about three years to relocate.”
