Plans have been revealed in Scotland for giant vertical farms that could provide food to almost two-thirds of the Scottish population.
The first of four giant complexes, which would be powered by renewable energy, could open in 2025, according to Graeme Warren, chief executive of Aberdeenshire-based Vertegrow.
When its three counterparts begin production they will be able to supply fruit and vegetables to residents across the Central Belt and feed the equivalent of 60% of the population.
