Four more sign up for Bristol’s Broadmead

Four new retailers have been confirmed as part of Land Securities’ and Hammerson’s £500m Broadmead development.

Spanish retailers Zara and Bershka will have their first stores in the city, taking 24,000 and 6,300 sq ft respectively.

Shoe retailer Schuh will also make its first Bristol appearance.

Clothing outlet Reiss, which opened a store in Park Street last Christmas, will open another store in the 1m sq ft development.

The Bristol Alliance announced the addition of these new brands which will stand alongside other confirmed brands such as Philip Green’s Arcadia, H&M and New Look.

House of Fraser will anchor the development with a 170,000 sq ft department store, and Harvey Nichols has been secured as a tenant in the Quakers Friars part of the scheme.

Keith Stone, Bristol Alliance leasing director, said: “We are delighted to have so many leading fashion retailers committed at this point in the programme, essentially giving Bristol the thumbs up as the UK’s next fashion hot spot.

“We are now more than 50 per cent let by floor area – either signed or in solicitors’ hands – which is well ahead of our programme.

Work started in September last year and the main site construction is under way with the development expected to open in autumn 2008.

CB Richard Ellis and Lunson Mitchenall are letting agents on the scheme.

Donaldsons advised the Bristol Alliance.
