Four Seasons Health Care said it is edging closer to a takeover of 53 more Southern Cross homes which are currently in the hands of receivers.
The care home operator has signed a purchase agreement to manage 53 homes that are in the hands of Grant Thornton, which is acting on behalf of the creditors of Loyd Property.
The Bruchman Group of companies, a Loyd Property subsidiary, is still the landlord of the properties, a spokeswoman for Grant Thornton said.
Four Seasons Healthcare will take delivery of the homes in two waves at the beginning and at end of October.
The company has already agreed to take over management of 45 of its care homes that were run by Southern Cross.
