Four shortlisted for Crawley regeneration scheme

Capital Shopping Centres, Land Securities, Grosvenor and Westfield have all been shortlisted for the 1m sq ft redevelopment of Crawley town centre.

The shortlist was drawn up following presentations by potential developers to Crawley council and English Partnerships, along with their advisors CB Richard Ellis, on Friday 4 March.

British Land, Development Securities, Hammerson and ING Real Estate Management are all also said to have presented to the council.

The shortlisted developers have now been invited to make tender submissions in line with the development brief and planning principles.

Any development on the proposed 35-acre site to the north of Crawley town centre is likely to include:

· A 250,000 sq ft department store, which John Lewis is expected to take.

· Another 700,000 sq ft of retail

· 200,000 sq ft of offices

· 400 homes

· A new town hall.

Presentations of the developers’ schemes will be held at the end of May, with a preferred developer selected in early June.
