Four shortlisted for Dorchester mixed-use scheme

Four developers have been shortlisted for a mixed-use scheme on a four-acre site in Dorchester town.

West Dorset District Council has selected Centros Miller, Modus, Simons Westbury and CTP/St James as preferred developers for the car park site on Charles Street.

The scheme, linking to South Street, includes residential, retail, public facilities and a bus interchange.

Leader of West Dorset District Council Robert Gould said: “We were impressed by the quality and professionalism of many of the 17 bids received.

“In this new approach to enhancing the quality facilities in Dorchester the developer will create a vision for the future of the Charles Street area.

“Our job is to ensure that the developer chosen is best able to meet the needs of the town and its visitors and residents.”
