Four von Essen assets sold to Bath Priory

Joint administrators of von Essen have sold Amberley Castle (pictured), Buckland Manor, Lower Slaughter Manor and Washbourne Court to Bath Priory.

von Essen Hotels is the holding company of 27 hotels based in the UK and France.

Administrators at Ernst & Young said the remainder of the hotels are not in administration, and they will continue to trade as usual while they speak to interested parties.

As revealed by Estates Gazette, administrators from Ernst & Young appointed Christie + Co to market the collection of 27 country house hotels at the beginning of June.

The portfolio includes a number of historic hotels, such as Cliveden in Berkshire, Lower Slaughter Manor in Gloucestershire and the Royal Crescent in Bath, as well as a hotel development, Thorn Island Battery Fort, which occupies an island off the Pembrokeshire coast.
