Mike Ashley has indicated that Frasers Group may begin to reopen its shops from 1 June.
The business, which owns brands including Sports Direct and House of Fraser, has also said it will be paying “virtually” all those directly employed by the business and those on casual contracts all of their normal salary for May. This applied to both furloughed and non-furloughed employees.
“The Frasers Group is nothing without its people, and I want to thank them all for their continued support and hard work,” Ashley added.
Fraser Group’s senior management, including chief financial officer Chris Wootton and head of commercial Sean Nevitt, as well as the non-executive directors, are to remain on reduced annual salaries capped at £40,000. Ashley will not be drawing a salary.
