Freehold Properties has exchanged contracts to buy Centaur House, part of the £25m Swan Hill/Rushbound mixed scheme on Great George Street, in Leeds city centre. Market rumour puts the price Freehold paid at about £1.75m.
The London-based residential developer has submitted detailed plans to convert the 4,900 sq m (53,000 sq ft) Centuar House into flats and leisure units. Freehold intends to start work in Spring 1998.
Meanwhile Swan Hill and Rushbond have secured detailed consent for a 9,290 sq m (100,000 sq ft) office scheme at the site. The offices will front the Headrow and the new inner ring road.
Swan Hill Properties director John Parkinson said: “I am delighted that we have made such rapid progress on this, one of the last major city centre sites in Leeds.”
According to Grenville Smith & Duncan, joint letting agents with Jones Lang Wootton for the office component, there has been strong interest in a possible pre-let.
