Freight logistics company takes space at Trafford Park

Freight logistics company Harbour International Freight is to make Trafford Park its new UK headquarters by leasing 43,000 sq ft of industrial space at its Merlin Park site.

The transport, customs clearance and freight forwarding solutions specialist has agreed a 10-year lease on Unit 4, The Furrows at a rent of £7.25 per sq ft.

The move will see Harbour International Freight relocate from smaller premises in Eccles, following a period of growth for the logistics company.

Carried out by JLL on behalf of landlord Custodian REIT, the deal has ensured there is no void period at the site, with Harbour taking the unit immediately after the end of the previous tenant’s lease.

Located within Trafford Park, near junction 9 of the M60, Merlin Park is home to a large mix of local, regional and national companies, with Harbour International Freight set to neighbour occupiers including Kellogg’s, Anglo Pacific International and The Green Group.

John Whitehurst, industrial and logistics senior surveyor at JLL North West, said: “The speed of this transaction is evidence of the high demand for quality modern warehousing at Trafford Park, which we expect to see continued well into next year.

“We received strong interest from a number of occupiers as Trafford Park continues to be a highly desirable location for occupiers as it offers excellent access to the motorway network and Manchester city centre with a wide range of local occupiers.”

Custodian REIT plc was advised by JLL and BC Real Estate.
