Chartered accountant MacIntyre Hudson has sold London-based estate agency Friend & Falcke.
Mick Sanders and Georgina Eason, principal and director of MacIntyre Hudson, respectively, were appointed administrators on 13 July, following the failure of a company voluntary arrangement.
The business, based in Chelsea and Barnes, and its assets were sold to Thamesview Estate Agents.
According to Sanders, the sale comes at a difficult time for estate agents, with a number having closed or downsized during the downturn. Sanders added that his company had been helping a number of poorly run businesses and their lenders in this sector and expected the uncertainty to continue, given the continuing difficulties in the banking sector.
Sanders said: “The sale represents an excellent result for creditors and protects the jobs of 15 employees. Thamesview Estate Agency Limited stood out as the ideal purchaser – knowledgeable, well funded and able to move quickly.”
Chris Beckwith, director at Thamesview Estate Agents, said “The purchase helps us to develop our existing estate agency business of Dexters, based in south-west London and Surrey, and pushes us into central London, where we hope our mix of training, local knowledge and hard work should enable us to continue to grow.”
