Doncaster’s town centre is set to be transformed under proposals from Frogmore Estates for a 6,000 sq. m (65,000 sq. ft) leisure development called The Forum.
On a former car park bounded by Doncaster’s High Street, Cleveland Street, Printing Office Street and the Mansion House, the scheme comprises 4 restaurants, 2-3 theme bars, four retail units and a nightclub.
Rents are currently around £134 per sq. m (£12.50 per sq. ft). Detailed planning consent has been obtained and construction is due to commence next year, with opening scheduled for Easter 2001.
Luminar Leisure has reserved 10,000 sq ft for one of its ‘Liquid’ chain of nightclubs.
Joint letting agents for the scheme are Chesterton and Churston Heard. Chesterton’s John Hubbard said: “Doncaster is already a popular social destination and we expect the Forum to be the new focus for leisure and licensed operators and to become firmly established as part of the circuit.”
He added that eight site licenses have already been secured for the scheme.
