Frogmore to submit detailed plans for Manchester Corn Exchange

Frogmore Estates will submit detailed plans early next year for the redevelopment of Manchester’s Corn Exchange as an 18,580 sq m (200,000 sq ft) leisure and retail scheme . The Exchange was badly damaged in the IRA bombing of central Manchester earlier this year.

The developer, which claims to have resolved the issues surrounding the leases of the Exchange’s remaining tenants, plans to start work as soon as planning consent has been granted. Manchester City Council has been closely involved with the preparation of the application. The new development is to be built behind the retained facade of the listed Exchange building.

Leisure agent Davis Coffer Lyons is advising Frogmore on the redevelopment. Retail advisors are to be appointed shortly.
