General Projects has submitted proposals to transform a former printing works and gin distillery in Clerkenwell, EC1
The 78,000 sq ft redevelopment at 132-140 Goswell Road, known as Technique, will include retail space and a restaurant. It is expected to have enough workspace for 800 people.
Plans for the development also include a separate art house gallery, which will be built on a vacant lot next to the site.
General Projects submitted the proposals to the London Borough of Islington with Northern & Midlands Holdings, which bought the buildings in 1991. It said it hopes to start on the site by the end of the year, with completion by 2019.
Jacob Loftus, chief executive of General Projects, said: “Technique offers a fantastic opportunity to reinvigorate this prominent corner of Clerkenwell, with a striking architecture, that sits at the heart of a prime creative office development.”
