FTSE suffers worst month since onset of Covid

The FTSE 100 has suffered its worst month since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Investor fears over inflation and a worsening economic outlook have pushed the index of the UK’s biggest listed companies to its steepest monthly fall since March 2020, at 5.7%.

Over the quarter, the index fell by 4.6%, its worst three-month fall since the third quarter of 2020.

The falls have included a sharp drop for listed real estate firms, for which Bank of America warned this week warned that the “glory days are numbered”.
