Fujitsu move hits hard in Thames Valley

The Thames Valley market was dealt another blow this week with Fujitsu serving notice to quit its offices in Bracknell, Berkshire.

The Japanese electronics giant has told Prudential Pension Fund that it wants to move out of its 75,000 sq ft of offices at the Bracknell Boulevard campus.

Fujitsu leased two buildings at the 12.5-acre park in 2006, paying £22.50 per sq ft.

Last summer, Fujitsu said that it planned to cut as much as 10% of its 12,500-strong UK workforce. AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, Wyeth and Astellas Pharma have also all recently put on hold or dropped their significant requirements in the region.

Lambert Smith Hampton and Strutt & Parker have been appointed to market the space.

  • Telindus, a subsidiary of telecoms group Belgacom, has provided a boost for the South East, taking 22,700 sq ft at Watchmoor Estates’ Watchmoor Park in Camberley, Surrey. It will pay £16 per sq ft on a 10-year lease.

CB Richard Ellis, Wadham & Isherwood and Maple Burton acted for Watchmoor, Colliers CRE for Telindus.
