Full speed ahead for marine park

Southampton-port.jpegA £450m Marine Energy Park planned by Able UK has been cleared for approval after objections by rival Associated British Ports were rejected by parliament.

The Immingham MEP, near Grimsby in Lincolnshire, was approved in 2013, and forms part of the largest enterprise zone in the UK.

The 906-acre facility was the subject of two parliamentary petitions from port operator ABP, which owns a parcel of land that would be compulsorily purchased as part of the plan.

ABP has its own designs to build a jetty on its land in the area, but a joint parliamentary committee has upheld the Able planning approval.
