The £200m regeneration of Liverpool’s Edge Lane area by Albert Gubay’s Derwent Holdings will not be called in for a public inquiry. The Government Office for the North West made the announcement this week, less than three months after the 890,000 sq ft, retail-led, mixed-use development of the Edge Lane retail park was given the unanimous go-ahead by Liverpool city council’s planning committee.
It follows a decade of disputes between the developer and the council over the site. Derwent Holding’s Edge Lane Central project forms part of wider proposals to regenerate a half-mile stretch along the key gateway to the city centre.
