Gallaher is to close its cigarette factory, at Hyde, Cheshire, over the next 3-4 years. It will concentrate its UK cigarette production facility at Lisnafillan, in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, which it is expanding with ultra-high speed cigarette machines. Tobacco workers trade union MSF will mount a campaign against the closure in the new year.
