Galliard Homes and Catalyst Housing Association, a subsidiary of Catalyst, have entered into a 50/50 joint venture to develop 604 homes on the former Wimbledon, SW19, dog track.
The £325m development will include a new 11,000-seat stadium for AFC Wimbledon on Plough Lane, 18,000 sq ft of commercial space and a new fitness facility. The scheme was designed by Shepard Robson and Wilson Owens Owens.
The scheme won planning in December 2017. Galliard has owned the site for a number of years.
The jv intends to provide 177 affordable homes – 30% of the development.
Stephen Conway, executive chairman Galliard Homes, said: “There are so many components to this scheme that will benefit the local area. Catalyst will help deliver a ground-breaking number of affordable units in a new residential scheme.
“I look forward to attending AFC Wimbledon’s opening match and celebrating the Dons’ return to the borough once the stadium is complete.”
