Galliard Apsley partnership reveals 850-bed Birmingham PBSA plan

Galliard Homes and developer and investment firm Apsley House Capital are planning a 850-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme in Selly Oak town centre.

The jv acquired the 143,000 sq ft former Sainsbury’s site (pictured), which has an estimated £163m GDV, in April, earlier this year.

The duo has launched a consultation for its initial proposals for the site that includes 850-PBSA beds, over 10,000 sq ft of medical provision, and 14,000 sq ft of retail/commercial space at ground floor levels.

The proposal consists of several buildings, ranging up to four-storeys, with the low-rise massing designed to minimise the impact of scale on surrounding buildings.
