Galliard Homes has paid £15m to buy the Balfour Building in Hounslow, former home of Alitalia and Sri Lankan Airlines.
The company will convert the 200,000 sq ft office block at 3 Lampton Road , TW3, into 160 flats.
Its scheme includes studios, one- and two-bedroom flats and penthouses with covered parking facilities.
The 1.9 acre site is just off Hounslow High Street.
Galliard has secured finance from Barclays Bank for the project, on which work will commence once vacant possession is achieved in October.
Building contractors O’Shea are a 25% investment partner in the project.
