The London Legacy Development Corporation has cautioned that rejuvenation of east London will take a generation.
The master plan stretches over two decades and several phases of construction using the infrastructure created for the Olympic Games as its foundation. Work will begin to turn the Olympic Park into five new east London neighbourhoods and an urban park as soon as the Paralympics end on 9 September. David Cameron, prime minister, confirmed the appointment of Lord Coe, chairman of the London Organising Committee, as his Olympic legacy adviser. Cameron said he hoped the net economic boost to Britain would be £13bn in extra revenues. A double-page spread in The Independent looks at what is in store for each of the Olympic venues as part of the legacy plans.
