Grosvenor and joint venture partner Wilson Bowden are developing a 120,770 sq m (1.3m sq ft) distribution centre for global fashion giant Gap in Rugby.
The new facility will be part of the developers’ 41.28ha (102 acre) Central Park mixed-use business park development at junction one of the M6.
Phase one of the Gap scheme will provide 63,172 sq m (680,000 sq ft) and will open in 2001. The centre will service all the company’s UK shops and could create up to 500 new jobs.
Grosvenor and Wilson Bowden have also formed a consortium with Westbury Homes and David Wilson Homes to develop a further 61.51ha (152 acres) at the site for a mixed commercial and residential scheme.
Outline planning consent is in place for 820 homes, a hotel, leisure and retail units. Infrastructure works will begin in May and the first serviced plots will be available for occupation in early 2001.
