Garner steps down as Nationwide boss

Joe Garner is stepping down as chief executive of Nationwide.

Britain’s biggest building society said that the move is part of a phased succession plan that has also brought in a new chair.

Kevin Parry, Nationwide’s senior independent director, will succeed David Roberts as chair. Parry will lead the search for Garner’s successor.

Garner has led Nationwide since 2016. He is thought likely to leave by next summer.
