Genr8 Kajima Regeneration has been named as the development management partner to transform Huyton Village Centre in Merseyside.
Knowsley Council has a 10-year development plan, which includes the creation of the council’s headquarters, a hotel, offices and resi, as well as improvements to the high street and station gateway area. This provides the potential for 1,700 jobs and a £50.8m boost to the local economy.
The project is expected to be supported by the government’s Levelling Up Fund, with the council looking to submit a round 2 bid, seeking £20m, ahead of July 6 deadline.
Mike Smith, Genr8 Kajima regeneration director, said: “The proposals are ambitious and will transform the town centre and create an innovative mixed-use environment in which the whole community can thrive, and which will be the catalyst for further regeneration throughout the borough. It is a truly exciting time for Huyton.”
