Genr8 Kajima reveals £200m Liverpool village regen drafts

Genr8 Kajima Regeneration, in partnership with Knowsley Council, is seeking community feedback on the £200m transformation of Huyton Village in Liverpool, Merseyside. The partners have been working together on the masterplan, which forms part of the wider 10-year development plan for the village, for more than two years. The first phase will involve the makeover of the council’s seven-acre civic site, known as St Michael’s Place. Subject to securing funding, the partners are looking to bring forward 75 affordable homes, a 130-bedroom hotel and 90,000 sq ft of office space, including the council’s headquarters. Future phases will include up to 150,000 sq ft of additional office space and 300 homes. There are also plans to create a community hub at Cavendish Walk, which will include the library and meeting and community spaces, as well as transform the existing multi-storey car park into a sustainable and modern travel hub offering car and cycle parking, electric charging points, improved security and lighting. Mike Smith, director at Genr8 Kajima, said: “As we move forward, it’s important that the voices of local people continue to shape how Huyton evolves. We are committed to being sensitive to the way the community already interacts with the village, and we want to ensure the plans reflect that.”
