Genr8 plots £60m Rochdale retail

Genr8 Developments has submitted detailed plans for a £60m retail and leisure development in Rochdale town centre, Greater Manchester.

Rochdale Riverside, which is being delivered in joint partnership with Kajima and Rochdale Borough Council, comprises around 200,000 sq ft with 24 retail and leisure units ranging from 1,000 sq ft to 20,000 sq ft. It also includes a six-screen cinema and around 350 car parking spaces.

The development is anchored by a 50,000 sq ft M&S and a 22,000 sq ft Next. Reel Cinemas has signed to operate the cinema, which will sit above the shops and leisure outlets.

The application is expected to be considered in early 2017, with construction starting by late summer 2017.

Designed by TP Bennett Architects, the scheme is a key part of Rochdale town centre’s £250m regeneration programme, which includes the re-opening of the River Roch and the construction of Rochdale Borough Council’s customer service centre, library and office building, Number One Riverside.

Cheetham & Mortimer and Lambert Smith Hampton are letting agents.
