The NEC Group has confirmed Genting Stanley as its preferred partner for the £90m redevelopment of the NEC site in Solihull Bimingham.
As revealed in Estates Gazette (03/03/07) Genting Stanley will operate the proposed ‘large’ casino subject to winning planning consent.
The confirmation follows a year-long tendering process.
The casino will represent the first phase of the NEC complex’s makeover and anchor a four-acre site with a minimum gaming area of 10,000 sq ft.
The masterplan, which was revealed earlier today, also includes a hotel and spa, restaurants and bars and an updated leisure and business facility.
NEC Group chief executive Paul Thandi said: “In Genting Stanley we are confident that not only have we found a partner who shares our vision; we have also found an experienced team capable of bringing that vision to life.”
The proposals were drawn up after Solihull was recommended as a large casino licensing authority by the national Casino Advisory Panel in January 2007.
Savills advised the NEC Group, while Jones Lang LaSalle respresented Genting Stanley.
