Genting places £45m bet on Mayfair hotel

Casino giant Genting has bought the Park Lane Mews hotel in Mayfair, W1, from Chelsfield Partners.

The group paid Sir Stuart Lipton’s and Elliott Bernerd’s property company around £45m for the boutique hotel.

Genting, which was bought by Genting Malaysia last October, is expected to extend the 72-bedroom Stanhope Row property. The chain operates five casinos in London and has a further 38 across the UK.

Elsewhere in the capital, hotelier Ali Farhani is selling the long leaseholds to the Knightsbridge Green hotel and Tophams hotel at 24-32 Ebury Street, both SW1, for around £35m. The hotels have 42 and 70 years left on their leases respectively.

Knight Frank and Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels are advising on Knightsbridge Green; KF and Colliers International are acting on Tophams; Edward Symmons advised Park Lane Mews.
