Gerald Eve has recruited Bobby Barnett as a partner to its capital markets team, to expand its build-to-rent capabilities.
Barnett joins from Lambert Smith Hampton, where he was a director for BTR and PRS for more than two years, advising investors on site acquisitions and developers on forward sales and operation.
Prior to this, Barnett oversaw Countrywide’s BTR investment management team and the Vista Fund as investment director, with other fund manager roles at British Steel Pension Fund and Aggmore.
At Gerald Eve, he will support the wider living platform, advising on BTR, co-living, student accommodation, care homes, retirement living, serviced living and hotels, as part of the 50-strong capital markets team.
John Rodgers, partner and head of UK capital markets at Gerald Eve, said: “Bobby’s build-to-rent experience – most notably his expertise in sourcing, acquiring and operating assets – will enable us to offer clients an even better level of advice, and his arrival is a significant boost for the team.”
Barnett added: “The rise of build-to-rent and PRS has been one of the defining real estate trends of recent years.”
