Elon Musk has told staff at Tesla to come back to the office or quit.
In an e-mail reportedly sent to executives titled “Remote work is no longer acceptble [sic]” and leaked to an industry news site, the electric carmaker’s outspoken chief executive wrote: “Anyone who wishes to do remote work must be in the office for a minimum (and I mean *minimum*) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla. This is less than we ask of factory workers.”
The internal e-mail, which was released on Twitter by the Whole Mars Catalog, continues: “If there are particularly exceptional contributors for whom this is impossible, I will review and approve those exceptions directly.”
It goes on to say that the office “must be a main Tesla office, not a remote branch office unrelated to the job duties”.
Musk has also said he plans to cut Tesla staff by 10%, after having a “super bad feeling” about the economy.
