Get Living brings Helsby on as chairman

Build-to-rent giant Get Living has appointed former chief executive of Savills, Jeremy Helsby, as its chairman.

Helsby retired from Savills last year, after 40 years at the agent.

The joint venture partnership behind Get Living, comprising Qatari Diar, DOOR and Dutch pension fund manager APG, has brought Helsby on as it pursues ambitious plans to deliver 12,500 homes within five years.

Get Living currently has 3,000 homes at East Village in London and New Maker Yards in Manchester. It has a further 5,000 homes in the pipeline in London, Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow.

It aims to expand to new regional markets including Birmingham, as well as growing its footprint in London.

Last year, Delancey acquired Capital & Counties interest in the Earls Court Parnership, which previously promised 7,500 homes, but is expected to see new plans for a BTR scheme of scale, dramatically boosting Get Living’s London portfolio.

The appointment follows the departure of Get Living’s chief executive Neil Young, with executive chairman Rick de Blaby taking over his role last year.
