Get Living readies student digs plans for East Village

Get Living expects to lodge plans within weeks to add 500 student bedrooms to its East Village scheme in east London.

The company said “a lot has changed” since 2014, when it received planning consent for its N16 and N18/N19 plots at the Stratford site, E20.

“Over the past decade, we’ve learned a lot from the way we live and use our spaces, which continues to evolve and change,” Get Living said in consultation documents ahead of a new planning application. “We now have an opportunity to revisit our plans, to create something even more special here to complete our vision.”

The consented plans for the N16 plot include 188 homes in a 16-storey tower, but it could now house up to 500 student beds in a part-eight-storey, part-18-storey scheme. Get Living has partnered with the University of the Arts London and expects to allocate 50% of its student accommodation homes to London College of Fashion students.

The N18/N19 plots, meanwhile, have consent for 710 build-to-rent homes in a 37-storey tower. The company is now proposing 848 homes in a part-35-storey, part-40-story development.

Both plots will undergo a public realm revamp, while the company also wants to improve plans for the public realm at Victory Park and Belvedere, including an outdoor pavilion space, new gardens, a civic plaza, new walking and cycling routes, and an improved children’s play area.
