Gibbs Mew plans to grow pub estate to 500

Gibbs Mew wants to buy more pubs to justify the investment it has made in its infrastructure. It has opened a depot in Warrington but has closed its Nottingham office which ran the Centric pubs it acquired in 1994.

The group wants to grow from 274 tenancies and 18 managed pubs to a total of 500. But the ambitious growth could be difficult to finance after turning in interim pre-tax profits down from £2.52m to £965,000.
