Gilbert/ Resolution plan Stoke-on-Trent regeneration

Gilbert Commercial Properties and Resolution land have submitted a planning application for a key component of Stoke-on-Trent’s city centre regeneration.

Gateway Park, Stoke-on-Trent

The joint venture partners are seeking consent for a £30m television centre and Snoworld facility which will house a new ski-slope, 200-seat auditorium, a restaurant, plus a warehouse distribution centre on site.

Andrew Bull, project director, said: “The media centre would feature a prominent five-storey building at the front of the site.”

The Marchini Curran Associates-designed project is the first phase of the proposed 40-acre development known as Gateway Park.

Located on the former Fenton Manor quarry site, the £150m Gateway Park regeneration scheme will be developed in phases and will be the centre of the new University Quarter in the city.

The park has been divided into different uses – media gateway, tourist gateway, enterprise gateway, leisure gateway and urban gateway. Gateway Park will also feature new public open spaces and man-made lakes as well as student accommodation and live/work space.

The scheme is on brownfield land and is close to Staffordshire University.
