Giostra joins Gatehouse

Former CBRE head of UK and EMEA debt advisory, Natale Giostra, has joined Gatehouse Bank as head of real estate finance.

Giostra has joined the shariah-compliant bank after more than nine years with CBRE, and 12 years in real estate banking working in the UK, US, Netherlands, Spain and Italy.

His experience includes origination and distribution of senior, junior and mezzanine commercial real estate loans as well as loan sales and acquisition of performing, sub-performing and non-performing loans.

Gatehouse is a senior balance sheet financier that provides loans of between £5m and £100m at LTVs of up to £85% in the UK, France, Germany, Benelux, Spain and Italy.

It will consider lending on office, retail, industrial/logistic, hotel properties and residential development. It will also participate in club deals or syndication, taking vertical slices or a junior position.

The shariah-compliant lender will not lend on properties let to pubs, casinos and banks.

In the summer ex-British Land chief investment officer, Steve Smith, was appointed as a non-executive director at Gatehouse Bank.

In June London-based Gatehouse Bank opened its first representative office outside the UK in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in response to growing demand from south-east Asian investors for shariah-compliant investments overseas.
