Gladman buys Runcorn site for 375,000 sq ft shed

Cheshire-based Gladman Developments wants to build a 375,000 distribution unit on a recently acquired site in Runcorn, Merseyside.

The company has bought the 21-acre site at Manor Park on the A558, near junction 11 of the M56, from English Partnerships (EP).

It will submit an application for a single building industrial and distribution facility with an end value of around £20m.

The price paid for the site is undisclosed.

Kevin Edwards, director of Gladman, confirmed that the shed will be built speculatively.

He said: “It is an established logistics park on the national motorway network and close to the Irish Sea ports.

“We plan to start work as soon as we receive planning permission.”

Gladman currently has 6.8m sq ft of speculative distribution space under construction or in planning, as well as more than 1m sq ft of speculative offices.

Its schemes include the 1.6m sq ft Cosmic Park near Leeds, currently the UK’s largest speculative industrial and distribution development.

Existing occupiers at Manor Park include Lidl, Hagermeyer, Business Post and Matthew Clarke.

Lambert Smith Hampton’s Manchester office advised EP.
