The Glasgow and Clyde Valley strategic development plan has been approved by Scottish ministers today.
The strategic development plan is the first of four proposed SDPs to win approval, and will serve a blueprint for local development, guiding planning decisions across eight local authority areas.
The 20-year plan covers a development corridor through the city to the River Clyde and out west to the M8 corridor to Edinburgh.
Development will be focused in three main areas, including the Clyde Waterfront, with housing- and regeneration-led schemes, and the Clyde Gateway, the area focused on the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
The new town centre at Ravenscraig in Lanarkshire is also a priority.
