Developer MRP has secured planning permission for a 432-bedroom purpose-built student accommodation scheme in Glasgow city centre.
The £85m project is expected to be completed in time for the 2026/27 student intake.
The Renfield Street development comprises 432 studios of varying sizes, ranging from approximately 180 sq ft to 400 sq ft.
The project is targeting BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings, with the low-energy approach exceeding Glasgow City Council’s energy efficiency standards by 20% (Gold Level) and surpassing the 20% renewable target set by Glasgow planning policy.
Graham Mitchell, development director at MRP, said: “Glasgow has a structural undersupply of student accommodation, and this project will provide 432 high-quality studios in the heart of the city, offering easy access to numerous higher education establishments and enjoying all the amenities the city centre has to offer.”
Construction by McAleer & Rushe is scheduled to begin in August, with delivery in July 2026.
Savills is advising on the scheme.
