Glasgow’s Skypark to get revamp

Moorfield Group and Resonance Capital have unveiled plans to revamp Skypark in Glasgow.

The joint venture partners, which bought the landmark office scheme for £55m in November, are going to develop what they say is Scotland’s first business hotel concept at the Finnieston site.

This will involve the refurbishment of some if the offices, lift lobbies and entrances, lighting, lift improvements and the introduction of more on-site amenities for tenants such as showers for cyclists.

It will also see the introduction of a concierge service – similar to a hotel – that will be based out of a new tenant’s lounge.

Mark Bruce, a specialist hotel interior designer at 3D Reid Architects who revamped Cameron House at Loch Lomond, and Camille Lorigo, an award-winning New York fashion entrepreneur and founder of Che Camille have been appointed to advise on the plans.

The first phase of improvements will begin immediately, with the completion of remodeling works scheduled for spring 2013.

Angela Higgins, director of Resonance Capital, said, “We are excited to announce our plans to bring Scotland its first business hotel concept. Moorfield Group is investing millions in the concept and in the best creative talents to help us deliver our vision. We want to offer something different, a unique opportunity for occupiers to enjoy their work place. The vision is influenced by similar concepts such as Tower 42 in the City of London and Moorfield’s other projects including Brindleyplace in Birmingham. Skypark has great potential to emulate their success given its scale and location.”
