Glasgow School of Art has signed a three-year lease to occupy 72,500 sq ft of space at Skypark Glasgow.
Rent on the space will be £656,00 per year and the move to Skypark coincides with phase 1 of the redevelopment of the Garnethill Campus.
Departments that will be based on site include fashion and textile design, product design, product design engineering, visual communications and architecture. They will join a range of high-profile organisations already based at Skypark, including O2, Ticketmaster and Lloyd’s Register.
The Skypark is owned by Moorfield Group and was acquired in November 2010 on behalf of the Moorfield Real Estate Fund II.
Ian Jones, project manager at Glasgow School of Art, said: “Over the past year the school considered a number of options across the city which could meet our requirements not only in terms of the size and space needed, but also in terms of our determination to maintain the quality of the student experience and the best possible working environment. Skypark meets these requirements, providing high-quality studio and office accommodation in one building, with easy transport links to the Garnethhill Campus and the West End.”
Jones Lang LaSalle advised the GSA and Resonance Capital acted for Skypark.
